Czar Nicholas II Brief Biography
Born on the 18th of May, 1868 in Tsarkoe Selo, Czar Nicholas II's father was emperor Alexander III of Russia. Following his father's death, Czar Nicholas II was officially crowned Tzar of Russia in 1896. He was passionate about military, but woefully unprepared for leading an empire. He once said : "I am not prepared to be a Tsar, I never wanted to be one. I know nothing of the business of ruling."
Although being an inept political leader, he had a strong faith in autocracy, believing he was the ultimate power who had the only say on all decisions. Unlike other famous western political leaders, Czar Nicholas II did not put any effort enhancing the nation's economy and world status. On the contrary, starvation, poverty and chaos occurred in the local communities while Czar Nicholas II lived in magnificence in his own palace Kremlin. Czar Nicholas II's ignorance and narrow minded-ness naturally created an internal discontent : on 15th of March 1917, he was eventually forced to abdicate the throne, marking an end to the Romanov dynasty that ruled Russia for more than 300 years.
